RE: Violations of VELM by ArchStL
Thank you for forwarding my previous e-mail to the Pontifical Commission on the Protection of Minors, Vatican City, Italy.
Sadly, I need you to forward this one as well.
As you know, I've been trying to get help from the Archdiocese of St. Louis since 2002.
Most recently I met with my bishop, Archbishop Robert Carlson of St. Louis, and Sandra Price, the head of the Archdiocese of St. Louis' Office of Child and Youth Protection, on March 26, 2019.
I recorded this meeting in case ArchStL decided to play games as they did in 2002 and again in 2011.
During the meeting, I informed Archbishop Carlson of the smear campaign the Archdiocese of St. Louis was waging against me...
Obviously, all of that happened before June 1, 2019 and the Pope's motu propio Vos Estis Lux Mundi and I don't know if the provisions of VELM can be applied retroactively. In case they can, I am preparing another letter describing all the violations of VELM that happened before June 1, 2019.
...represents a violation of Vos Estis Lux Mundi that occurred AFTER June 1, 2019.
Also, in the months after my March 26, 2019 meeting I was -- as I suspected I would be -- subjected to a stonewalling campaign...
...by ArchStL that began before June 1, 2019 but continued AFTER June 1, 2019, representing another violation of VELM.
By stonewalling, I mean that, despite Archbishop Carlson's offer, if not promise, of a follow-up meeting, Sandra Price declined my initial request for a follow-up meeting and then stopped answering my e-mails asking for a follow-up meeting.
And, to be clear, while I started e-mailing
Sandra Price asking for a follow-up meeting BEFORE
the relase of VELM, I set three separate e-mails to Sandra Price, asking
to take Archbishop Carlson up on his offer of a
follow-up meeting, AFTER June 1, 2019, the date on
which Vos Estis Lux Mundi went into effect.
Given the Archdiocese of St. Louis' stonewalling campaign, and refusal to honor the promises made by the Pope in VELM, I've started telling my story again, this time on a local radio show...
Then, on June 30, 2019, and more than THREE MONTHS after I talked to Archbishop Carlson, and after not having received a reply to any of my e-mails asking for the promised follow-up meeting with Archbishop Carlson for more than TWO MONTHS, I released my recording of my meeting with Archbishop Carlson and a previous version of the transcript of that meeting.
Sandra Price to send me an e-mail on July 1, 2019.
Her e-mail is full of lies -- lies I'd be glad to discuss -- but the thing that most troubles me, and that represents a clear violation of the spirit, if not the law, of Vos Estis Lux Mundi is when she says...
"you waive your right to confidentiality"
It would seem to me that a threat to reveal confidential information about a survivor -- I assume information gleaned from the medical and/or psychological treatment records ArchStL received access to as a result of the discovery process related to my October 2015 -- is a CLEAR and obvious violation of Vos Estis Lux Mundi.
So, in sum, NOTHING has changed for survivors in the Archdiocese of St. Louis.
Please inform the Pontifical Commission on the Protection of Minors, and the Holy Father, of that fact.
