Brandon McCarthy is a pitcher who is a bit different than
some of the other pitchers that I have written about because I
have actually had some contact with him and have tried to
influence him and his pitching mechanics, perhaps with some
success.

In sum, the story of Brandon McCarthy is a pretty simple and
unfortunate one. In high school, he decided to copy
Mark
Prior because it seem like a good idea at the time; Mark
Prior was extremely successful and pretty much everybody was talking
about how
Mark Prior's pitching mechanics were perfect.

Unfortunately, as with Mark Prior, the
Inverted W that Brandon McCarthy developed overloaded his
arm and caused a series of problems that he is still fighting to
overcome.
